Xanthos

Xanthos, being founded in 333 (B.C), second century it became the capital of the Lykia Uniq. The city, which was founded with great desires and sacrifice, was looted by the English navy under the command of lieutenant colonel Spratt, in 1842. Seventy boxes of historical pieces were moved to the British Museum in two months time. The most important one among all was the splendour monument of Nereids. Although the city was looted, today Xanthos is an important stop for the travelers with its historical wealths. The city gate, the city walls, the theatre, the turret tombs, agora, basilica, The Kitabeli Monument, the Harpler Monument, akropol, manastre, the Dansozler Sarcophagus, and the Aslanlı Piliye are the wealth of Xanthos.
